"This is another exciting story in the Dunskey Castle series - and it's becoming more complicated dealing with not only the druids but also the faeries! Trying to end the servitude to the druids causes greater complications than anticipated... History seems to be altered somewhat... why?
One again, Jane Stain takes us deeper into the saga of the time traveling clan - and their deepest desires to get out of the servitude. She has created a vivid past world with memorable characters - and we meet them again as their stories cross. What I enjoy is that authentic dialect is used, and it really isn't that hard to understand the conversations. There are romances, but they are clean - while their thoughts may run wild! :) Any way, we have an escape into a world different from our own; some of the characters have lived in our present time and are unsure about dealing with the challenges of the past. We are given a glimpse of very distant past history with a twist!
I loved this story since we are taken into even more complicated consequences than in previous stories; yet the clan adapts to fight the changes and their perceived enemies. I know that I am not revealing much of the story because I believe you will enjoy it more without having previous knowledge. You will face the surprises as Friseal, Ashley, Eoin, Marybeth, Donnan, Kelsey... and others do. I can't wait for the next book to come out! (This is my favorite series in this genre.)

While I was given an ARC, I am freely sharing my review with you - and I have bought a copy to show love and support for the author. - This is the middle book of the final trilogy in the Dunskey Castle set. Marybeth and her co-workers at an advertising agency, Ashley and Suellen, were accidently time traveled to 70AD Scotland. In this story, they are trying to rescue Donnan, Suellen's love, from the Faeries who have captured him. Center is the silver Faerie Axe that Graduate Druid Kelsey has stolen from Eoin, one of the cursed MacGregor slaves to the Druids with time travel abilities. Other MacGregor warriors Connell, paired with Ashley from her teen years at the Renaissance Faire, and Friseal, now falling for Marybeth, are their experienced helpers since they have been stationed by their Master Druids with other MacGregors at the underground fortress circa the years 70AD for a number of years. Lots of travel by foot and horse through Scotland, encounters with two types of faeries, and war between the Picts, with Jaelle, and the Celts helped by Druids against the Romans helped by the Faeries. Dangerous repelling and stitching sword wounds of lovers! A great read! Recommended! I volunteered this review from an ARC.
- Can the faerie axe be used to save Donnan from the evil faeries? With a a war going on between Faeries and Druids with humans being used as puppets is there any chance of a rescue and breaking the curse? Fast moving adventure with a blossoming romance in the middle of all the drama. Looking forward to the next book.
